Data Management Systems
I really enjoy developing custom data management systems for businesses.
Many businesses begin with paper forms to manage their data. That works fine for a while and some transition to spreadsheets to track and manage their data. Spreadsheets offer improvements but only work to a point. The business really needs a custom data management system.
You may need some of these features for your business.
- Enter work order information
- Schedule activities
- View/print reports of your data
- Record completed work
- Monitor status
- Keep notes on jobs, tasks, follow-up conversations, customers, etc.
Electric Car Charger Communication
The customer manufactured electric car charging stations that were postioned at various locations in the United States. He needed a Windows service that would communicate with each of the charging stations. The software exchanged data with charging stations and stored results in a SQLServer database.
Loan Evaluation Tool
The customer had a very elaborate spreadsheet with proprietary formulas to help evaluate whether a loan was worth investing in. His spreadsheet worked well for him, but his employees frequently erased formulas and other data in the spreadsheet cells. He wanted a Windows desktop application to perform the same calcuations that his spreadsheet did. He had hired two other developers to build the program but they both failed. I delivered the solution in a few weeks.
Research Documentation Tool
The customer had a very laborious and detailed manual system to document research and create legal opinions based on the extensive research. He needed a single application that had a flowcharting tool, PDF viewer, spreadsheet, and text entry. The PDF viewer also needed to capability to add comments and highlighting. I developed the application without any dependences on Microsoft Office. This customer had hired another company to complete the project but they failed. I delivered a solution that they are currently using.
